I just found this picture of myself from Christmas 2018. This girl (and the two littles standing next to her) look tired. We had just moved – it was our first Christmas in our current home, and I was determined to make ALL the magic for my people. Reflecting on holiday seasons past has been a good exercise for me heading into this holiday season. I am different now. The wisdom of age, and learning how to live in alignment with how I want to feel, have helped me put practices into place that protect my time and my health. How do you want to feel this holiday season? I want trips to the city with my kids and Hallmark movies snuggling on the couch in front of the tree. In order to make that happen, I can’t say yes to all the parties and dinners. You get to decide how you want the holidays to feel. Make space for the things you love. Is there something coming up you are doing out of obligation that you really wish would be cancelled? Say the hard no. Then go do something you love with your people.
